Hello, and welcome to my blog!
I originally started blogging as a means to track my daily progress and thoughts about the Paleo Challenge. For the month of April, my CrossFit class was attempting something called the Paleolithic/ Caveman Challenge. Since I had so much trouble explaining my decision to eat this way, I hoped this blog could shed some insight on what I was actually eating and why I was doing so. Of course, it went hand-in-hand with CrossFit, my current (and hopefully long-term) fitness obsession.
After the 30 days was over, I decided I wanted to continue the challenge of keeping up the blog– and to sometimes eat Paleo, (and sometimes eat bread). I also want to keep CrossFitting because I really love the physical AND mental strength it has brought me.
As for my food obsession, I am not a typical foodie (as defined by Urban Dictionary: A person that spends a keen amount of attention and energy on knowing the ingredients of food, the proper preparation of food, and finds great enjoyment in top-notch ingredients and exemplary preparation.) However, over the past few years I’ve developed a greater appreciation for food (particularly nutritious food that is well-prepared) and curiosity about where it comes from and how to define “nutritious.” I’m not a big fan of recipes and measurements and kitchen timers. I like to pretend I can wing-it in the kitchen… and sometimes I can. Other times it gets a little messy. And I’m okay with that. I’m determined that cooking real food from good quality ingredients will not just make me a more “qualified” foodie, but a more conscious consumer as well. And, of course, I enjoy eating out every once in a while and trying new restaurants in this awesome little city (DC).
